Annan Water

So I've finally decided what I'm doing for my artistic project in HY 300- Knitting: It's not just for Grannies. I'm taking the cat pattern i got from angry t-rex, changing and adapting it to make 5 different kitties all representing an emotion of the knitting process. The stitch will be different from cat to cat, as well as, the yarn used. I'm super excited and I'll post pictures along the way. Here is how im breaking them down!

Dead(tired) Kitty- the gray kitty originally posted. I'll improve his face, as well as, knit a tiny blanket. I know I'll be dead tired when i finish with him! Get it? Witty isn't it?

Confused Kitty- he is an acrylic multi blended kitty. He is going to be staring confusedly (o.O) at a pattern. Also done as a garter-stitch cat.

Frustrated(pissed as fuck) Kitty- he is a wool based striped cat. The colors are red and a lighter orange color. He will be done in a stocking net stitch. he is going to be wrapped up in yarn frustrated as hell with it!

Sad Cat- he is going to be an acrylic blue yarn. Done in the seed stitch. He is going to be sadly taking apart a knitted object...

And finally Happy Cat- She is going to be in an acrylic pink and black multi colored yarn. And I think im going to do her in a St sts as well. She will happily be holding needles in her hands working away.

 Woot! Done with step one of three in my artistic project! my cute black cat! He stuffed with left over yarn, and cat nip to drive my real kitty, Dax, crazy. The pattern was super easy because it was a knit stitch only pattern. I got the pattern from a ravelry link, but you can also click here to see where I got it from! It was alot of fun, and thanks Angry t-rex!

 Alright, so my knitting teacher is the worst teacher ever. And if i wasnt so addicted to knitting this class would be a horrible class. Her expectations for this are ridiculous for an interim class. We have two 4 page research papers to write, 5 books to read, a annotated bibliography to write, two major knitted projects, and a digital story documenting all the research, and your projects. AND the best part is... she has missed three days of classes in our first week. She is one of the most irresponsible teachers ive ever seen. I'm the only student that has had any knitting experience and she expects our first project (a hat) to be done by monday along with the annotated bib. WTH? I've been trying to help all the other students in my class, but my role isnt the teacher. I just feel so bad when i cant meet up to help somebody cause i know they are trying to figure it out through crappy youtube videos or text directions. BUT without further ado... here is my hat!

So I am about to go and buy my books for the summer, and as per usual, I'm uncontrollably happy about it. I know in three weeks time I will not be happy about it, but as of right now I am. The most exciting thing I am looking forward to this summer is taking my knitting class! It starts on Monday, and I can barely hide my excitement for it. I feel like I'll actually get some knitting done since I will have a prescribed time period to work on my knitting. I can't wait. Also it is awesome cause i get to buy a book called Stitch N' bitch... i mean that title wins, right? The other two classes I'm taking this summer suck. HY 204 and WWI but oh well. I'll hopefully be gradumacated and in SLIS!

Woot. Last day of finals! I'm about about to hit the library at 6AM to start cramming for my HY 390 final. Then I'm taking it. Then I'm done! So what things am i going to be doing with my short amount of freedom? 1 Book 1 Twitter! and WoW!

For 1 Book 1 Twitter we are reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and that is one of my all time favorite books. Also I feel super elitist because I will be reading it on my signed copy. That's right. Signed copy. Suck it. Which is all possible due to the wonderfully talented Carly aka kallaneboi I'm so excited to be apart of book club that is worldwide. #1b1t already has 5k followers and I'm hoping at least half actually join in. Sorry for the tweets incoming, but this is a movement we dont see enough of. I wonder if we could get this going in Tuscaloosa, SLIS kids we need to get on that!

Oh wait, and sry Carly if i dont come by during finals... i think the coffee mainlining i did this morning is going to wear off toward the end of HY 390 final. BUT  I promise to stalk you thoroughly during interim and summer. Get ready. It's going to be awesome.

1. I totally finished all my homework
2. I've got an A in my HY 494 class, and if i pull one on the paper i turned in this morning then i will totally NOT have to take the final.
3. I got to take an epically long, and comfy bath while listening to Chopin's Nocturnes... it made me incredibly happy.
4. I have absolutely nothing to do tonight, and that is awesome.
5. My mom is awesome and helping with the exhibition that is on Thursday

And the best part of it all. My knitting class starts soon, and its going to be awesome. I'm making laptop sleeves, and if you want one let me know. I'll need the dimensions! But i think im going to play some WoW with the marj, or go to bed, at 9:30 cause im that cool.

Things i really want right this second...

1) A really hot and warm bubble bath
2) An audiobook of Draco Sinister and Draco Veritas. So i can listen to them in the aforementioned bath
3) To go sleep after completing 1 and 2.
4) A vanilla moonpie... i know its random
5) My knitting class to start

Things that are actually happening right this second...

1) I'm writing a 10 page paper on the Moso initiation and funeral rites in relation to gender
2) I'm writing a paper about the significance of Victorian Feminism
3) I'm writing a 10 page paper on the Pink Box Burlesque troupe from Tuscaloosa
4) I'm designing and making a trifold on the Pink Box
5) Not getting any sleep

Yup. If you feel like you can make any of the first set happen please contact me... I'm suffering in reality right now.

End of the semester is like the Chinese water treatment. Endless, and irritating. I've been trying to write this paper for like 4 days, and i am definitely not closer to finishing it. I keep "reworking" my outline... ie. PROCRASTINATING. But hey, i have 2/5 pages done. So thats better than where i was an hour ago. I think the problem is the fact that completing this paper doesnt really lighten the load. It's just one of a thousand things i have to do. Oh well.

In other news... i really hope that lj doenst eat this post.. cause theyve eaten two now... which were more content filled then this one. Just saying. Here is a lolCat to make your life a little bit more sunny as well.

... at writing in this often. Oh well. I least i try every now and then, right? But Christmas was well interesting. My family never ceases to amaze me. Only in my family, can the eccentric grandmother would be easier to handle than my mother having multiple breakdowns about the divorce, and being all alone. Also my grandfather not coming to Christmas because mom and him got in a fight about Linda. Idk. I'm so glad that I have stayed away from my family as much as possible this holiday. Not going home for the whole holidays was the best decision I could have made. My sanity is somewhat intact, and I only had to tuck in my smashed mother and brother twice respectively. But on the present front, i did get everything I wanted for Christmas, and my Apple TV is syncing right now, and I cant wait to fully use it!

So all in all, it was a pretty good holiday. I'm kinda ready for school start again. This will be my last full undergrad semester, and that is super exciting. What is not so exciting is making sure my recommendations and applications for grad school are finished and turned in on time. Well and the whole rejection part... that would really suck. like a lot alot.

Anyways, I think I'm done with the verbal vomiting. Thanks for tuning in, even though there really is no one reading my posts, lol.

So I started re-reading this novel a couple days ago, and due to homework, I'm not that far into it. But when i was reading the opening Concerning Hobbits i realized that I started to actually tear up. I almost started crying from sheer joy, wander, and excitement that it sparked in me. Lord of the Rings was my very first foray into real fantasy and my life has never been the same. In the best way possible. I'm just so glad that I was able to find something that can be bring me so much joy.


In other news, Jeff Buckley's birthday was the 17th and it was the most amazing day since i listened to nothing but his Grace and Live at the Sin-é. God it is such a tragedy that he was taken before he could really impact the world with his voice. He sings to my soul. So a very Happy Birthday, Jeff, you are missed and loved.
